Job Title: Lab Technician
Location: Northampton MA
Duration: 12 Months
Hours: The schedule is 12 hour shifts 5:45-6:15 One is a night shift with those hours, the other is a day shift with those hours. The schedule is 2 days on, 2 days off, every other weekend work Fri-Sun. Next week is the opposite days.
Job Summary:
- Performs laboratory maintenance and prepares beverages in a research laboratory under minimal supervision by applying standard scientific techniques and analytical principles.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Prepare syrups and beverages according to mixing instructions and following guidance from product developers and scientists.
- Process incoming inventory of ingredients and supplies (e.g., receiving, logging, labeling, storing) to ensure that materials are traceable and properly stored.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation (e.g., cleaning/sanitizing, troubleshooting, conducting preventative maintenance, calibrating, and repairing).
- Maintain carbonation tanks room. Replace tanks as needed.
- Maintain tasting rooms.
- Replace water filters as needed.
- Support pilot plant productions (prepare ingredients, bottles and labels, conducting analyses to ensure beverage is within specifications, cleaning/sanitizing).
- Maintain laboratory GMP’s, cleanliness, organization, and stocking of required supplies, maintaining clean and glassware and laboratory countertops.
- Record data from analyses, calibrations, maintenance, cleaning and experiments in a computer, logbook, or laboratory notebook.
- Identify, classify, maintain, and protect files, documentation, and sensitive information consistent with record handling and retention requirements.
- Clean/sanitize, change valves, seals, gaskets, and perform other general maintenance on figals and dispensing equipment for carbonated beverage production.
- Support stability studies: Product labeling, placement into required storage areas, and sample pulls.
- Assist with preparing shipping documentation and staging large product shipments.
- Laboratory Practices: Knowledge and application of Good Laboratory Practices (e.g., handling of chemicals and glassware, preparation of standards and reagents, proper measuring techniques, data management, housekeeping).
- Laboratory Safety and Environmental Protection: The ability and willingness to apply HAZMAT policies, HAZWOPER policies, environmental policies, OSHA policies and the chemical hygiene plan. This includes the safe handling of chemicals and glassware, the use of personal protective equipment and Company safety rules. Perform monthly safety audits.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs required.
